Life Changing Impact

Maria Moon Music CIC is a community interest company dedicated to improving mental wellbeing and social connection through the power of music making. Our mission is to help people feel happier, more fulfilled, and less isolated by providing inclusive, creative music activities that empower individuals to overcome challenges in their lives, including those related to mental health, isolation, drug and alcohol misuse.

Music is a universal language that transcends barriers and fosters connection, empowerment, and healing. Through our carefully designed music activities-including instrument exploration, chanting, and social music-making-we create safe, inclusive spaces where participants can express themselves freely, build confidence, and develop positive social bonds. These activities not only stimulate creativity and emotional expression but also promote mindfulness and resilience, which are critical components in recovery.

Music as a Positive Catalyst

Our pledge is to harness these musical experiences to combat the negative emotional and social impacts of addiction. By engaging participants in collaborative and joyful music-making, we help reduce isolation and encourage a sense of belonging and purpose. This holistic approach supports mental wellbeing and complements traditional recovery methods, making it a vital resource for sustained recovery and improved quality of life.

Music-making sessions offer profound wellbeing benefits for individuals recovering from social isolation, mental health problems, depression including drug and alcohol addiction. Research shows that engaging in group music activities helps reduce stress and anxiety by stimulating dopamine release and lowering cortisol levels, which are critical in managing cravings and withdrawal symptoms. This neurochemical impact supports emotional regulation and cognitive functioning, essential for sustained recovery.

Singing is Joyful

Singing is very good for you and brings everyone together!

It improves self esteem, lowers anxiety, increases confidence and has an overall positive impact on your mental health because it is an activity that demands being mindful of the present.

The social aspects of Singing are known to reduce isolation, promote a sense of community and wellbeing in all who participate. It's fun , increases our musicality and gives us joy!

We strive to sing folk, traditional, classical and world pieces that are as diverse and inclusive as possible for all who sing with us. Our team nurtures community singing and choir

performances from children to 99 year olds.

"Music Making or Learning about Music, should not be the privilege of the few. It should available everywhere."

Music should not be a privilege of the few, especially considering its transformative impact on neurodiverse and SEND children. In the UK, despite over 1.5 million children having SEND, music education funding faces a £161 million shortfall, threatening inclusive programs. Since 2014, GCSE music enrollments have dropped by 36%, and A-Level entries by 45%. It's crucial to reverse this trend to ensure music remains accessible and inclusive for all.
